June 2019 Emergency Response Scenario
Knowing what to do in the event of an emergency can save lives and minimise a fellow worker’s suffering while emergency services are on their way! It’s a legal requirement to practice your plan under the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017 and the General Risk and Workplace Management Regulations. Annual testing ensures that processes and actions undertaken by staff in the event of an emergency are practicable and effective.
QEC facilitated a compressed oxygen manpack fire and serious burn response for Action Manufacturing. Workers had to help their burnt colleague, and respond to the small manpack fire following their emergency response plan. A debrief was conducted after the event. The workers at Action Manufacturing made some fantastic observations and suggestions for improvement in regards to their procedures.
