Alfa Laval Emergency Response 2019
Knowing what to do in the event of an emergency can save lives and minimise a fellow worker’s suffering while emergency services are on their way! It’s a legal requirement to practice your plan under the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017 and the General Risk and Workplace Management Regulations. Annual testing ensures that processes and actions undertaken by staff in the event of an emergency are practicable and effective.
Last week two of our staff had the pleasure of facilitating Alfa Laval’s fire and first aid response for the LPG they have on site. QEC applied a prosthetic “serious facial burn” to one of the workers and arranged them to have an “incident” when changing out a the LPG used for the sites forklift.
A debrief was conducted after the event. The workers at Alfa Laval made some fantastic observations and suggestions for improvement in regards to their procedures.
